The Ottomans built it for salt merchants; engineers moved it stone by stone in the 1970s to save it from a dam.

Trebinje's most important sight: an Ottoman bridge built in 1574 with beautiful looped arches and smaller decorative half-moon incisions, originally a key point for the Dubrovnik salt trade. Named after the rich Ottoman administrator Arslanaga who collected toll money and built himself a house beside it, the ancient structure was relocated stone by stone in the 1970s to save it from a rising reservoir. The old town leafy squares and the Trebišnjica River create one of Hercegovina's most relaxed atmospheres.
